2. Information we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us, plus basic technical information that is created automatically when you visit our website.
- Information you provide. Your name, email address, mobile phone number, profession, areas of interest, and any message you write when you use our contact form, membership form, event registrations, or SMS sign-up form.
- Consent records. When you opt in to text messages, we record the date and time of your consent, the page you consented on, the exact consent language shown to you, and the IP address and browser used. We keep this as proof of your consent, as required by mobile carriers and industry rules.
- Technical information. Standard server information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, used to keep the site secure and working properly.
3. How we use your information
- To respond to your questions, messages, and membership or enrollment requests.
- To send you the communications you asked for — including email updates and, if you opted in, text messages about our events, programs, and ways to get involved.
- To operate, maintain, and improve our website and programs.
- To keep records of consent and to comply with applicable laws and carrier requirements.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not sell it.
4. SMS and email privacy
Mobile information
We will not sell or share your mobile information or SMS opt-in consent with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. Mobile opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional use, and they are excluded from any information sharing we may otherwise describe in this policy.
We may share information with service providers that assist us in delivering our messaging program — such as our messaging platform and telecommunications carriers — solely as necessary to provide the service. These providers are permitted to use the information only to deliver messages on our behalf.
If you opt in to text messages, message frequency may vary and standard message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages, or HELP for assistance. Full details are in our SMS Terms & Conditions.
Email privacy and unsubscribing
We will not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for their promotional or marketing purposes. We add an address to our mailing list only when the person it belongs to submits it themselves and agrees to receive email from us — we never buy, rent, scrape, or import lists.
Every marketing email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time at miiph.org/unsubscribe. Opt-outs take effect immediately and are kept on a suppression list for the sole purpose of making sure we do not email you again. Addresses that hard-bounce or generate a spam complaint are suppressed the same way.
We share your address with the email delivery provider that sends our mail on our behalf, and only so that it can deliver that mail. Full details are in our Email Terms & Policy.
5. When we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it. We share information only in these limited situations:
- Service providers. Companies that help us run our website, email, and messaging programs — for example our web host, email delivery service, messaging provider, and carriers — acting on our instructions and only to provide those services to us.
- Legal requirements. When we are required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of MIIPH or others.
As stated above, mobile information and SMS consent are never shared for promotional or marketing purposes, under any of these circumstances.
6. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses a small number of cookies that are needed for the site to function, and may use basic analytics to understand how visitors use our pages. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; parts of the site may not work as expected if you do.
7. How long we keep information
We keep form submissions and consent records for as long as needed to provide our programs and to document consent, and thereafter as required by law. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
8. Your choices
- Text messages. Reply STOP to any message, or contact us, to stop text messages.
- Email. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or opt out at miiph.org/unsubscribe.
- Access, correction, and deletion. Email [email protected] to ask what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) on our website and restricted access to submission records. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s privacy
Our website and messaging programs are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Our SMS program is intended for individuals 18 and older. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Links to other sites
Our site may link to other organizations, such as Peace Pals for Kids or our social media pages. This policy does not apply to those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted at miiph.org/privacy with the “Last updated” date above.
